Clown Cake
I made this Clown cake for my daughter's recent birthday.
I baked a round cake and covered with chocolate icing. I also put a few 100 & 1000s sprinkles around the outer edge.
I made the clown totally out of fondant icing. I rolled the icing into shapes for the arms and legs, head, shoes and hands. I covered the joins with little dots made with fondant and also used these dots to decorate the clown.
The collar was used with blue fondant icing and also covered the joins where the clown's head was attached. I used silver cachous to decorate the blue collar.
The clown's hair was made with yellow fondant icing, flattened and fringed with a knife.
The little handkerchiefs down the top side were made with coloured fondant icing rolled flat and cut into square shapes.
The shoes were made by colouring the icing with red (tip: needed a lot of red colouring) and rolling into shape.
As I made the clown, I placed it on a pre-made round disc of white fondant icing then placed the whole thing on the cake.
