Double Heart Cake

Double Heart Cake

Double Heart Cake

I made this double Heart Cake for my twins' 1st Birthday.

It was quite easy, really. I used heart-shaped baking tins and baked two cakes. I cut a small section from the sides of them both and stuck them together using icing.

I then covered them with white icing and decorated around the edges and for the flowers on top - blue for Callum and pink for Kirra.

I made little love hearts for around the edges by melting white cooking chocolate. When the chocolate was melted, I separated it into two bowls. I added a little blue colouring to one and and a very small amount of red colouring to other (to make pink). I carefully poured the melted chocolate into heart shapes onto a metal tray and left them for half an hour to set. Using a piping bag I placed some plain white melted chocolate into it and piped around the edges of the love hearts.

When they were set, I justed lifted them off the tray and placed around the heart cakes.
