It's a Fairy Party...
So, you're planning a Fairy Party?
Kids love everything magical.
Fairies have the magic power that we dream for, the looks we envy, and magical wings that take them wherever they want to go.
The illusion and fantasy of fairies encourage hope that the innocent imagination of childhood is present in all of us.
Come with us as we help you create and plan that magical environment for your child's fairy birthday party on their special day....
Make sure you have a couple of Fairy Helpers on hand at your Fairy Party. These can either be older siblings or other parent helpers.
On arrival blindfold the guests. Ask if they would like to be a fairy for a day (or for the boys, an elf) and when they say "yes", the Fairy Helper can tap a magical wand on their head and say the words "Abra Cadabra".
Voila! They are now magical for the day! The fairy helper then blows bubbles and sprinkles fairy dust over the new fairy.
The guests can now move on to having the Fairy Helpers put makeup on them. The fairies can have their nails painted, eye shadow, lip gloss and roll on glitter on their faces. The elves can have glitter put on their cheeks (using a circle of moisturiser on the cheeks, dab a paintbrush on covered with glitter).
While the fairies and elves are getting their faces made up, give the other guests some fairy drawings to colour in. I've included some great pictures just for this. Just click on the links below and print them out.
You will need Adobe Reader (the latest version is recommended) installed on your computer in order to open and print these pictures. If you don't already have it, you can get Adobe Reader for free here (a new window will open so you can download without leaving this page).

where there will be lots food and tricks.
The good fairies there will help you earn your wings, and we'll play games together,
and make pretty fairy things.
Hope you can join us!
Date, Time, RSVP, etc.
Decorations
- Hang tinsel and coloured cardboard stars from string placed around the room to create a magical fairy party
- Use balloons coloured pink, white, gold or silver
- Have some fairy books
lying around
Games
Pin the star on the fairy's wand.
Fairy Freeze Play some fairy music (source from your local library if you don't already have some at home). Dance around the fairy circle - guests practice fairy flying, fluttering, swooping, gliding etc. Use the same theme as for 'musical statues'.
Tooth Fairy or Fairy Treasure Hunt The Tooth Fairy had been flying over and was so busy watching the fairy party she crashed into a tree in the garden and dropped some money. She told Fairy Godmother that if fairies helped to "clean up" they could keep coins they found (in their own treasure bags). There will be great excitment in finding all of the coins and this will keep the fairies busy while the fairy picnic (afternoon tea) is being laid out. Fairies then return to the Fairy Castle for picnic and birthday cake.
Fairy Tag Similar to Stuck in the Mud, one fairy has a special "freeze" wand and another a special "fly free" wand. This is a great fairy party game for using up energy and increasing appetite.
Scavenger Hunt Put the guests into pairs accompanied by a Fairy Helper. Tell them that the Queen Fairy had her house blown away and needs some help from the fairies and elves to rebuild it. Make up little bags that have a list stapled to them, asking them to find the following: 3 brown leaves (for the roof of the house), 2 stones (for the floor), 2 green leaves (for the walls) and something shiny such as cellophane (for the windows) and lastly 2 twigs (for the door). They are to bring them all back put it all into a big bag and the Fairy Helpers would take it home to the Queen Fairy. Make sure you have plenty of leaves, stones and cellophane strategically placed around for the fairies and elves to find!
Fairy Activities Set up an activity table and make some tiaras. Or let the guests make their own special fairy cookies or a
star wand.
Prizes
You can purchase lots of different fairy trinkets from $2 dollar shops such as tiaras, wands, glitter glue, stickers, little containers of bubbles.
Food
A groovy fairy party idea is to sprinkle fairy dust onto the food (it could practically be anything, such as salt, pepper, parsley etc) and just put in little containers. With paint write on them "fairy dust".
Fairy Fizz
Red softdrink or lemonade with a dash of red colouring (to make it pink)
Elf Punch
Make a fruit punch using fruit juice and soda water. Add some fruit and star shaped ice cubes. Add some green colouring.
Fairy Biscuits
Use pink icing to ice some plain biscuits. Have some plain white ones as well as some with 100s and 1000s.
Fairy Cookies
Using a star shaped cookie cutter, make your own star shaped cookies with different coloured cookies.
Fairy Bread
What's a fairy party without fairy bread? Lightly butter bread, spread with lots of sprinkles, and cut into triangles or use a cookie cutter to cut into star shapes.
Fairy Burgers
Cut the hamburgers into star shapes with star cookie cutters.
Fairy Wings
Bake some marinated chicken wings.
Cream cheese and strawberry sandwiches
You can cut these with star, heart, diamond etc. shaped cookie cutters.
Jewel Salad
Place fruit in a watermelon basket. Cut watermelon and rockmelon with heart, star, diamond etc. shaped cookie cutters. Sprinkle with 'fairy dust' (coconut).
Little Elf Crackers
Ritz crackers with slices of cheese and sliced meat cut into circles or shapes on top.
Fairy Wands
Pretzel sticks - big or little, dipped in white chocolate or icing and dipped in sprinkles or 100s and 1000s on one end.
Fairy Gems
Set out a bowl of different colored jellybeans.
Pixie Kebabs
Thread pink marshmallows and grapes onto kebab sticks.
Party Bags
You can purchase most of the Fairy Treasure for your fairy party from $2 shops or make your own such as personalised fairy drawings. If the fairies and elves do some arts and crafts these can also be part of the treasure.
A great idea is to buy some
Make some pretty Fairy Cones out of paper doilies and fill them with sweets wrapped in metallic paper. Add some glitter pens, some little packets of pencils and personalised fairy drawing and balloon.
Or you can purchase little drawstring organza bags fairly cheap at an arts and crafts store or $2 shop and fill it with fairy treasure such as sweets, glitter, fairy wands, tiara, some fairy stickers.
The Cake This was a pretty easy Fairy Birthday Cake to make, using a Dolly Varden cake tin, a Barbie Doll, and some imagination...
