How long do I need to freeze a cake before I decorate it?

by Noni
(UK)

I have my daughter's birthday coming up and am going to be so busy organising everything else I was wondering if I can make her birthday cake and freeze it before I decorate it? If so, how long do I need to freeze it for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Freezing your Cake
by: Sarah

I usually freeze my cakes at least a few days before the actual event.

I even decorate it while it's frozen - less crumbs.

Freezing a Cake before Decorating
by: Marion

You can freeze your cake for up to a few months if you want, before decorating it, or overnight if you're in more of a hurry.

Make sure you wrap your cake in plastic wrap and alfoil to lock in the moisture.
