Lovebug Party

Ladybug cake is easy to make!!

Ladybug cake is easy to make!!

My daughter, Lexi, was supposed to be born on Valentines Day, but was born two weeks earlier. A few days before her 7th birthday, I told her about this and she sprung up into the air. "Lets have a lovebug party!!" she says.

For the invitations, my daughter and I got heart cutouts from our local craft store and wrote the party info on one side and drew ladybugs on the other. Lexi included some small home-made friendship bracelets that her older sister, Sabrina, made.

Lexi and Sabrina chose what to put in the party room, our basement. They took our silver tinsel and hung it around our mailbox with ladybug helium balloons, purchased at the local dollar store. Downstairs, Sabrina's old ladybug rug was washed and hung on a wall for party photos. Tinsel hung from the ceiling and valentines were hole-punched, tied onto strings and hung in doorways. Lexi even went far enough to put a soft red toilet cover on the toilet!!

When guests arrived, they were told to wait and color in the partyroom until the "Lovebug Princess" arrived. A minute or two later, Sabrina came down and played a few notes on her trumpet while Lexi, dressed in a pink shirt covered with hearts and red leggings, came down and gave each girl a hug. Then, the -->real<-- party began. Some activities were Pin The Hearts Above the Lovebugs, Valentines Mad Libs, and baking cookies!

While the cookies were baking, Lexi opened presents. After each present, she crowned the girl a Lovely Princess. This goes for every girl at the party, not just those who brought presents. If the cookies were still baking, we took Party Pix. First one with each girl and their present, then one with everyone. The girls ate the cookies after they were done baking.Yum!

For the Food, we made a Ladybug Cake. I made mine with a glass bowl used for mixing cakes, then put some colorful frosting on. We also served fruit punch in a bowl, CHOCOLATE, and some hot fudge sundaes.

At the end of the party, each child was presented with a crowm and a small jar with two ladybugs inside.

For thank you notes, we sent party pix with the Lovebug Princess' autograph on the back.

Lexi loved the party, and the next year, she had a Panda Party! Thats another story!!
