Olivia's Caterpillar Cake

Olivia's Caterpillar Cake

Olivia's Caterpillar Cake

My daughter wanted a Caterpillar cake for her 3rd birthday and I couldn't find a design anywhere, so I made up my own!
The "eaten leaf" cake board is made from MDF and my husband cut out the eaten part with a jigsaw and I covered it with shiny green paper.
The cake was cooked in big and small muffin tins. I placed the cakes on the board in the shape of a caterpillar and iced it in green icing. I then covered it in smarties and used musticks for legs and pipe cleaners for antennas.
My daughter absolutely loved it and so did all the kids and parents. I cut mine up to serve, but depending how many children were at the party, you could make the caterpillar long enough so every child could have a muffin cake each.

Great Caterpillar Cake!
by: Sarah

Wow - what a great cake! Thanks for posting this. I've been looking everywhere for an easy to make caterpillar cake. I tried this for my niece as you described but changed the color to pink and used black licorice for the legs. It went down a treat!
