Planet Earth and Space Rocket Cake

by Sharon West
(Torrequebrada, Malaga, Spain)

Space Cake

Space Cake

I made a victoria sponge cake mix and baked two halves in a pudding bowl. Then stuck two halves together with vanilla butter frosting. With blue food coloring I colored more frosting and covered the whole thing.

With ready to roll green icing I cut out the shapes of the land and sat it over the top. I made a couple of flags with tooth picks and paper and the satellites came from my sons toys with garden wire wrapped round to make then stand up. The rocket was a swiss roll covered with white and black ready roll icing with a few silver balls added hear and there. The fins and flames again were shapped from ready roll colored icing and the name piped with an icing pen.

We might have to steal your cake idea - especially about baking the two halves in the bowl -
Thanks!

Beautiful Cake

I have been looking for Space cake ideas. We are doing a Mission to Mars theme. This is one of the best and easiest I've seen.
