Pumpkin Patch Party Question

by Erin
(Conway, AR)

For the past couple of years I have had my son's birthday at the pumpkin patch nearby (his birthday is in October). The kids love it so I plan to go ahead and do it there again this year.

I know it's early, but I like to plan ahead so I am looking for ideas for a different theme to go along with the pumpkin patch. 2 years ago my son was into Monsters Inc. the movie and was dressing as Mike W. for Halloween so we asked all the kids to just wear their Halloween costumes and I made it a Halloween/Monster theme. The party favors were monster/Halloween favors and the plates/cups were Monsters Inc.

Last year he was really into John Deere Tractors so we went with a farm/John Deere theme. I had everyone wear overalls and hats and we gave all the kids bandanas to wear. They looked so cute. The goody bags and plates were all John Deere themed.

So this year I am not really sure what to do. I still want to use the pumpkin patch, but I wanted to change the theme a little. Any ideas???

Spy Party
by: Talia

What about a spy theme?

My cousin did this for her son recently and it went off really well.

They started by sending the invitations in an envelope marked 'Top Secret' and inside set out the 'mission details' and a codename for the guest. When guests RSVP'd they had to respond with their codename.

When the guests arrived, they were 'fingerprinted' (with an inkpad and a large piece of paper) and given ID badges. They played a mystery game which was basically a treasure hunt for clues to find a mystery red box.

The Party Favors contained spy things like magnifying glasses, little flashlight torches and mystery munchies.

Mystery Games?
by: Mary-Lou

I think your son may be about the same age as my youngest - going on the themes you've used in the past. If that's the case, my youngest is crazy about spy games and mysteries etc.

Shot in the Dark Mysteries have some great mystery games that you can order online and they send you an instant pdf download of the game of your choice (comes with step-by-step instructions as well as tips and tricks). You can print the game and cut out the clues and character details to share with the party guests.

About $33.00 which is not a bad price for a couple hours worth of entertainment.
