Who has a good recipe for novelty cake tins?

For my sons birthday I bought a silicone cake mould that had a train and 8 different trucks- about 8cm wide and 5 cm deep each. I have used the usual victoria sponge recipe and filled them to the top and cant get them to cook all the way thru- even after 2 hours at gas mark 4!
